   Removing the legs
I've seen alot of complaints about not being able to remove the legs after assembling them. If you read the instructions, simply remove the water tray. (rotate counter-clockwise) This exposes the metal clips that retain the legs. Pull the clips to disengage the legs and they drop right out! Put the tray back on; put the legs in the tray; and add the grate, grill and lid. Put it in the bag. It's that simple. Nice little grill.
Small portable but cooking is problematic.
Plus-
Small portable. Do not jam legs in to get it out again.
Negative-
If you don't jam legs in, do not move the unit as not super stable.
Agree with others that center section is too hot and outer does not cook. Partially overcome by using a lid. Coleman should have made the plastic storage lid metal.
Grill top sticks like mad even with tons of oil.
Gas control does not really function well as its either little or full max as I did not detect any difference from Min to MAX turning the knob.
Overall-
It was hard to control the heat. Things burn and also get stuck on. Constantly moving food off the center. The round burner in center just focuses the heat too much in the center. Compared with those regular black portable rectangular grills - you give up cooking ability for Coleman portable / storage. It is an off / on occassional item to use so I will have to look for another for more regular use.
Not too good....
We got this as a gift. I'm glad we didn't pay any money for it. I've used many portable grills over the years and most of them were Coleman. I am disappointed with this model. The flame is way too close to the grill and the heat is not evenly distributed throughout the grill surface. Coleman didn't do a very good job designing this.
- Not Sturdy(shaky, gill plate moves around too much)
- Ignition doesn't always work. (You'll have to use matches)
- Flame control knob is very flimsy.
- No protection between dripping grease and flame.
- No lid
- Grill surface is convex so hot dogs and sausages will roll off.(Coleman was trying to design it so grease would run off)
This retails for $44.95. At that price, you'd think Coleman would have made the entire unit of metal. The only good use I found for this grill is...
- Quick emergency cooking device.
- Make a pot of hot coffee.
- Not using it for grilling food.
- Only use it for pot and pan cooking.
- DONT use this as your primary camping cooking unit.
Final word... This grill is JUNK. Look around and buy another model.
Returning this Today
Probably good for boiling water but you can't cook a steak on this. Gets extremely hot over the center area which is solid with no open grating over the flame area and food sticks and burns. I tried to use only the outer grated section of the grill but anything touching the center just attaches to the solid top and burns. You would do just as well cooking with a blow torch!
The grill top is fairly unstable on its supports to begin with and takes a balancing act to properly center it. The meat sticks and pulls the whole grill top with it when you try to turn it and this alone can be a safety hazard as well.
The only good feature is that its easy to clean the burnt meat off the grill top before returning it.
Better than a sharp stick in the eye.
Calling this a grill seems a bit of a misnomer. Essentially, it's a single burner camping stove that comes with a grill grate cover that really acts more like a skillet with holes in it. The flame is very close to the grill grate and propane burns hot. Though the burner flame is adjustable, it is difficult to regulate the heat effectively. It also cooks unevenly, with items in the middle (over the burner jets) cooking very quickly and items on the sides cooking very slowly. Thick cuts of meat or fish are problematic because A) they are too big to move around on the grill top for even cooking and B)the grill has no cover and burns so hot that you will cook the outside of your thicker cuts while the inside will stay cool.
If you are looking for a grill that performs like a miniature backyard gas/propane barbecue, this is not your product. If you want a small, easy to use, single burner for camping/tailgating and plan to use if for boiling, and/or grilling hotdogs and burgers, it serves pretty well.
